Bored in NYC

And yet another reason to make my fb profile private

Ariel, I was surfing Facebook and found the Commie High Alum network…..outstanding!! Man do I feel old, but actually I really still do think and feel as I did when I was a senior class of 85’ (try not to laugh too loud)
It would be really cool to connect with a young, happening, attractive Comm. High Alum such as yourself, and add you as a friend.
Ariel, I could tell you some stories from my Commie High daze that you would not believe. This was the time before HIV/AIDS, sex in Commie High was free and easy, I played lead singer in a hardcore / punk / metal band and got credit for it.
We had a big Victorian era house (think of punk “Animal House”) and rehearsed in the basement.
We dropped acid in the graveyard and had sex on the gravestones, smoked pot with my soc studies teacher, snorted coke with the hall monitor, and had sex with the theater department assistant director…aaahhh those were the days….”and you did what you wanted…..” (theme to TV’s “All in the Family” Archie Bunker)
It might have seemed like we were deviant animals, but we were actually a very good group of young American students, I had a B average throughout school, worked part time in a restaurant, and went on to study classical drama at Oxford University, England -San Diego State University, Non Commissioned Officer Academy - U.S. Army Ranger, Airborne - Liaison Officer, Israel and Egypt - United Nations Peace Keeping Forces. Worked for an independent film studio in Hollywood several years, member of the Music Video Producers Association (MVPA), Sales Executive, corporate networking - AT&T, Manhattan (lived in SOHO)……..
Now I work and live in Bali, Indonesia over 3 years, and work for the biggest real estate company on the island, representing some of the most increadible luxury villas and beachfront properties in the world. When I was bagging groceries at Krogger’s in my junior year at Commie High I never could have imagined or dreamed of the life I would live, and experiences I would have; - but I can tell you that the learning, discoveries, and journeys I had experienced at Community High School, the brilliant teachers and faculty (many U of M professors) that promoted creativity, freedom of expression, computer literacy (in the 80’s) and they taught by example, treated us as independent young adults, and cared about what we thought and said. Community High School was truly a priceless, increadible experience that made a permanent impression on the man I would become.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message. You are the only person in the Alum group that I am sending this message to. I did not mean for it to be so long, but thoughts of past CHS experiences stir passionate memories, and the impressions will be forever be ingrained in my soul.

It is an honor to be able to connect with another Alum like you Ariel (one of the bands I played in was called Azriel…hmmmmmnnn) and I am very grateful to you to consider me as a friend in your facebook network.
Consider me your true friend, and if you ever want to see and experience Bali, Island of the Gods, please know that my door is open to you, and I have an extra room in my villa, which has a nice swimming pool and tropical garden, and is only 200 meters from the beach, and also walking distance to the hippest restaurants, shops, bars, and clubs in all of Bali (Seminyak!!)

Very best wishes,

Michael O’Connor Pugh
